Items to Bring

The day a new roommate moves in to my apartment, he/she must bring the following items:
  • Bedsheets (Because sheets & pillowcase must be washed once a week to reduce the number of dust mites, you will need two sets if you leave your laundry overnight for other people to do. If you do your own laundry -- which takes about 23min to wash and about 36 minutes to dry -- then you will only need one set of sheets and pillowcase).
  • Pillowcase (Because sheets & pillowcase must be washed once a week to reduce the number of dust mites, you will need two sets if you leave your laundry overnight for other people to do. If you do your own laundry -- which takes about 23min to wash and about 36 minutes to dry -- then you will only need one set of sheets and pillowcase).
  • Pillow stuffed with polyester (not foam, not feathers, not goosedown).
  • Blanket made of cotton, polyester, acrylic, rayon, wool, sheepskin or cashmere -- no alpaca, no angora. (If you sleep directly on your blanket instead of using a sheet, you must wash your blanket once a week to reduce the number of dust mites. Otherwise you can wash it every two weeks. You will need two blankets if you leave your laundry overnight for other people to do during months when the weather is chilly. If you do your own laundry, then you will only one blanket).
  • Wash cloth
  • Beach towel or Bath towel (I recommend getting thin towels as opposed to thick towels. Thin towels dry faster on the towel rack and in the clothes dryer. Super thick towels tend to stay damp, and are thus more likely to mildew -- triggering allergies and asthma)
  • Hand towel to use as a bath mat and to wipe up water spilled on floor
  • Dish towel (or extra hand towel to dry dishes with).
  • 4 Rolls of Single-ply Toilet Paper (Two-ply Toilet Paper tends to stop up the toilet)
  • Band-Aids
  • Earbuds or Headphones
  • A Hair Comb (unless you are bald or wear braids)
(Because I'm sensitive/allergic to chemicals in many commercial products, I provide hand/body soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash and laundry detergent which I purchase at health food stores. See Prohibited Chemicals, Gasses and Materials and Additional Prohibited Items).

It is highly recommended that you also bring:
  • An Umbrella
  • Rain Jacket with Hood or Leather Jacket with Hat
  • Water Resistant Shoes
  • Flashlight and Batteries
  • A Kitchen Knife (with a blade 4inches or less)
  • Protein Powder or Sardines
  • Betadine Iodine Antiseptic Solution (It's what hospitals put on cuts and wounds).
  • Vitamin C
  • A Digital (non-Mercury) Thermometer
